Why are tack trunks such a focal point of showing?
Why are they sooo pricey for just a box and why does it matter so much to have a custom fancy wooden one for showing – wouldn’t it be more practical to have a light weight one with wheels for convenience?? And why does a box so strongly define status in the show world?
It is so strange – One must be well off to be IN the horse world so why further dissect class in this way. I mean I am well off and ride a 20k tb and board at a 12k a year barn and go to lots of shows – why is it if I were to not have a fancy tack trunk would I still be considered less into showing or less apparent or uppity as some other girls??
I don’t even know. I will never understand people and their designer labels and name-brand must haves. I go to shows with trash bags over my show coat and breeches… how hard is that decision? hmmm… a 2 cent trash bag, or a 40 dollar garment bag? So tough……
I mean honestly I couldn’t care less about these stupid little cliche defining things. So Im not cool because I don’t have that Devon Aire 100% silk 600 thread count garment bag? Cry me a river. When Im at a show, all I care about is enjoying myself, having fun with my horse. I actually feel sorry for those that fret over these little things – what a waste of time. And that wasted time is time not enjoyed.
