What would be the total cost for buying, owning, and boarding a horse in Alberta,Canada?
Hi there ! I’m just wondering if anyone might know the average cost of buying a young(5-8year old) horse(with Western tack), owning it on a long term basis, and boarding it ? It would be awesome if you could help me out ! Thanks so much !

For prices on western horses in your area, you can check calgary.kijiji.ca and go to pets>Livestock for sale. Fairly accurate. There should be boarding farms and lessons added on there too.
Board changes based on which barn you’re in, and where your horse will be boarded. Indoor board? Paddock? Pasture? The barn I used to be at was $250 indoor board (Crappy indoor facilities I must say), $150 paddock, $80 pasture. Haha, actually I can’t remember exact prices, that’s just what I think it was.. but thats less than typical.
