There are a couple of choices if you want to be an exercise rider. One of the ways it to start working for a farm where they have TBs training. Get on as a hotwalker or groom and work your way up. You have to earn your way up to galloping. Advantage = you will have job as you are learning. Disadvantage = Depending on the barn it can be fast or it can take a while.
The other way is by going to a galloping school course. I am not sure where in Calif. it will be if there is any. The course in most cases are about 6 months long with lots of hands on work involved. Advantage = you get to the galloping pretty quick Disadvantage = you have to pay for the course.
Good Luck
