Anyone know what this is?
We acquired this in a box of stuff from an estate sale and my husband and I are curious what kind
of pencil is this ? We’ve searched far and wide on the internet and cannot find an answer as to what kind of pencil “kit” it is….nor the use.
It appears to be a lead pencil with the metal shaft having fine grooves running up and down
from point to the ball on the end….and the “kit” comes with a small
wooden “tube” aprox 1″ long…. along with two tack pins of some sort. The pins say patent
pending. There is no name branded on the box. Just a slim cardbox box with seperators to fit the tacks and the wooden tube and pencil. (The pencil does have lead) To view the item, go to Craigslist in New Hampshire and in the search type Anyone Know What this Pencil Is ? Love to know!

Maybe it is a plumb bob.
Maybe the lead falls out because it is the wrong size, or it is not a pencil after all.
Maybe those are the very first push pins ever made.
Is is wood, or wood knot?
