Horse stable design for two plus tack room?
Does anyone have good references to a site that has blueprint layouts for a horse stable. I have a 38′x50′ area to work with.
I could design it myself, but I would like something to look at for ideas.
I want to have a small paddock connected to both stalls, but separated from one another. I DON’T want a two story barn, just single story, room enough for tack and feed, and easily accessible.
Again I don’t need any other information other than some good sites to check out.
Thank you very much for all your help and time.

Sorry, I don’t have a diagram for you….this described barn below was featured in the livestock section of a prominent ag newspaper. I thought it was worth mentioning……..
“A 24 x 34 barn works beautifully; Room for two stalls(12×12′s), a 10 foot width center aisle, a horse shower and tack room. (The two stalls face (oppose) the shower stall area and the heated tack room). You may also increase your center aisle to 12 feet or more, up to you. Leave enough room for two horses being led in opposite directions to pass each other safely in the center aisle. The center aisle floor is cement. As are the shower area floor and tack room floor. The horse stall floors are of course dirt with stall mats placed over the bare ground.
You can run two paddocks off the back of the stalls, using horse panels to keep your horses separate from each other. You’ll have doors opening directly from the back of the stall to their paddocks. You may choose to leave the doors off the back of the stalls open at all times or close them in the event of really stormy, rainy weather or heavy snow.
Build a separate hay storage area; big enough to hold at least eight to ten ton of hay.
You can store your horse’s grain in your tack room. Have a lock and dead bolt on your tack room door. No windows on your tack room walls…don’t give a burglar a way in. Don’t forget to place light fixtures in your tack room and also over your center aisle. Make sure that all of these aisle fixtures are smash proof…hang them high enough so a horse can’t connect with them and break them. If you have lights in stalls, again hang them high enough so a horse cannot reach them. Cover these with wire cages which you’ll find at hardware stores….Home Depot. Also place any electrical wiring in conduit to prevent snoopy noses and chewing teeth from reaching electrial wiring.
Provide an access road that encircles your horse facility…makes things a whole lot easier for your hay delivery person and your farrier or veterinarian to reach you barn area and your horses.
Have a remote lighting system on your barn’s exterior which you’ll love when days become shorter and nights longer. This is also a safety issue. You may have this light system not only light up the exterior of your barn but also the interior stalls…what ever you wish.
Determine whether or not you want automatic waterers in each stall. You may as well have them if you’re plumbing your barn for a shower stall area. They’re wonderful….however, if you live in an area that has frigid temps in winter you’ll have to think about insulation and heat tape when piping water to your barn. You’ll want to make sure water lines are buried a least 3 feet deep or more to prevent freeze ups”.
