How can you turn a picture all black and white except for one color in Photoshop?

I have seen edited pictures where the picture would be in Black and White or Greyscale, But then there is one color that is still in tack.

Here are some steps:

Drag the background layer over the “New Layer” button at the bottom right, or press Control J (Mac: Command J) to make a copy of the layer.

Go to Image -> Adjustments… -> Hue/Saturation. You can also get to Hue/Saturation by pressing Control U (Mac: Command U). Drag the Saturation slider all the way to the left and the selected layer will become grayscale.

Then use the eraser tool to erase the area you want the colored layer to show through. You could also use the wand, lasso, or pen tool to create a selection, then press delete. Sometimes you get a better result using one of these tools other than the eraser.
