Can a donkey wear horse tack?
Hi. Can a donkey wear regular horse tack? Do i have to buy a special bridle or saddle? Can they wear regular halters? They are some, what built like horses… Thanks, Josie
there is really nothing specific about donkeys that will make horse tack unsuitable. Any tack meant for horses is fine to use on a donkey just as long as it fits the donkey in question. I have a small donkey (38″ tall) and I have trouble finding stuff to fit him but he has his own halter, harness and cart.
People who ride their donkeys find treeless saddles fit them better. Horse and mule saddles don’t fit a donkey’s conformation all that well. Harnesses have so many different adjustments they are easier to fit to a donkey.
