What went wrong at my yosemite horseback riding?
I went to yosemite last week and decided to go on a guided two hour horseback riding trip. It said no experience required on their website. When I called to book, I told them that this would be my first time riding and requested a calm horse. When I showed up, I reminded them of my need again and they put a note next to my name.
When I got on my horse, it did not want to go and did not follow the other horses (there were 6 other horses and 2 guides). They instructed me to kick it and I did that several times. In the next 2 hours, I had to do it many times. The scary thing is that when it comes before a slope, my horse waited for the horse before it to go and thereby created a distance. And then it trotted! This happened 8 to 9 times in the 2 hours. The path was rocky and full of slopes. It was the most scary 2 hours of my life. I told the guide that I was scared and wanted to get off but they assured me that the horse knows what it is doing. What went wrong here?
This exact same thing happened to me at North Star Tahoe. I’ve ridden before, but the silly horse did not want to go and the guide kept insisting I kick it over and over again, which is completely against my nature, and she was mad and I was going to demand a refund but my girlfriend convinced me to let it go. It was a horrible experience and I’ve never ridden a horse since.
