how can i get into equestrian (horses)?
i love horses and my dream is to own a horse or part lown one. i want to get into equestrian but i dont no how there is a colledge called hadlow but i will have to stay on the sight all day every day and i cant travell down there its quit far and i cant drive there yet, i want to be with horses for the rest of my life i think they are great animals and when i ride them i feel like im in a dream. i have stopped horse riding cause i now have no means to pay for lessons. but please answer this question and give me good advice i really want help with this thanks
I don’t know where you live or your age, but some of my humble suggestions are:
Do well in school so that you can get a job that will support a horse hobby. Contrary to popular belief you do NOT need to be “rich”, “elite” or a “snob” to enjoy horses.
If you find a good job or have skills in high demand you can move to a more rural area where there are more horse opportunities.
I took riding lessons in elementary school/junior high but had to give them up as I could no longer afford them. I took the occaisonal trail ride when I could.
I volunteered at a therapeutic riding centre and met someone there with horses who wanted a friend to ride with. We got along very well and she even allowed me to ride her horse in a show.
I worked at summer camps teaching riding and was able to ride in the evenings and often trail ride by myself.
When I got older I moved to a small 3 acre farm where I have a pony. He’s easy to keep and feed. I was about 22 when I got my first pony. You might not have one tomorrow but you wil one day. Be patient.
Try looking into a part lease to see if you like it, and when you have a horse of your own you could part lease out to 2 other people and that would help keep costs down.
Hang in there and hold on tight to that dream until you get there. Until then focus on what you can do to get yourself there. What other things are you interested in? Don’t worry about horses to the point of excluding other good things in life. I spent years doing that, and I regret it now.
