famous american female equestrians…help!!?

i have to pick 1 woman to represent in a school project. its called “american heroes”. so I’ve been looking for american female equstrians, that have either been in olympics (only in english disiplins) or were famous racehorse people or have done something important in history or something like that. any ideas would help me. they can be alive or desceased. one woman i found was debbie mcdonald. you can search her on wikepedia, but my teacher said that she didnt “play a big enough part in history” so she’d have to think about it. so id prefer if these people were kinda known a bit. any info would help me! thanks so much!

I agree 100% with you. Debbie McDonald is certainly a great racehorse person and historical too. She is the oldest person to compete in an Olympics event. She is disabled, with a short leg, yet competes with able-bodied people, on their own terms. In mid-life she switched from the hunter-jumper ring to the extremely difficult and demanding dressage.
She is unselfish, going around the country helping train other dressage riders. She has made dressage a major riding activity in this country, and American dressage riders a world-class force, and that’s no small accomplishment, since for almost a century the Dutch have monopolized this event.
Her Accomplishments Include
Team bronze medal in 2006 World Equestrian Games
2nd in the World Rankings (June 2004)
Team bronze medal at 2004 Athens Olympics
Winner of the 2004 US Grand Prix Freestyle Championship/US League Final
Winner of 2003 Bayer Festival of Champions
First American dressage rider to win the World Cup in 2003
Winner of U.S. Equestrian Team Grand Prix Championship
Team Silver medal and individually fourth at the 2002 World Equestrian Games in Jerez, Spain (both team and individual placings were the best American performance there has ever been at this level)
Individual and Team Gold medals at the 1999 Pan American Games
AHSA Equestrian of the Year in 1999
1999 USOC Female Equestrian Athlete of the Year
