Any great equestrian collages in North East America?

I really want to go to collage known for their riding. I’m also looking to be an equine vet.

I went to Virginia Intermont College, majored in Equine Studies, and rode on their equitation team. I don’t know if that is not north enough but they have an amazing program and amazing people leading the program.

There are a ton of very competitive colleges up north with regards to their equestrian teams- Mount Holyoke and Centenary stand out the most to me.

Since you are wanting to become an equine vet, I would suggest doing your undergrad in Biology and then for your post grad going to a vet school. I have a good amount of friends that have gone on to vet school with an Equine degree but most of them either double majored or minored in Biology. I have some that majored in Biology and minored in Equine. If you major in Biology you open your choice of schools up. Just because a school has an equine team or riding program does not mean there is a degree offered. Another option is a Pre-Vet degree.

A great resource for college riding is www.campusequestrian.com they keep up with news and results. You can search for teams by region and zone.

A few other schools you might want to look in to: Rutgers, Penn State, Skidmore

Be sure to look at if the school not only offers IHSA, but also ANRC, ISRA, and IDA too.

Good luck!
