Your Equine college experiance?

Hi, I’ve been looking into several little schools with either equestrian teams or programs or both. If you went to school for equine where did you go and why did you like/dislike it? What was your major/minor?

So far I’m either interested in business and equine studies so that I can do equine marketing and advertising or insurance. My other option is to get my undergraduate and masters in speech-language pathology with equine and so some therapeutic riding on the side. I had major speech issues when I was young and think that empathy would help in this profession.

Colleges I’ve looked at include Lake Erie College, William Woods, Delaware Valley, Virginia Intermont, Averett University, Midway College, Eastern IL. University.

Also, if you don’t mind sharing what were your ACT, SAT etc. test scores. I’m only a junior, so I have plenty of time to decide on anything, but I’m one who likes to be prepared. Thank you, sorry this is so long!

I am a freshman in college…my major is Equine Studies which minors in Business management (4 year program). I chose my school because i wanted my career to focus on the business aspect of horses and not science and health (needles, blood, and science is not my thing). I attend Vermont Technical College and i love it because everything is very hands on and we get so much experience actually working at the barn and with the horses instead of just sitting in a chair during a lecture. I am glad you have already looked into some schools…make sure you tour them and meet teachers/advisors of the program before you choose….you should feel very welcomed and relaxed in the school you choose. I took my SAT test twice…i think its good to take them junior year but dont freak out if you dont because you still have time to take them senior year. My first test score was a 1460 and then my second time i got a 1680..so definately take them atleast twice because you will improve!!! Preparation will allow you to suceed! Good luck in your choices!!
