equestrian/groom jobs for London 2012 olympics?
where can i find out about them, how to apply etc? My grandparents live in Greenwich, London, opposite greenwich park where they are hosting the equestrian games. I ride and groom, im currently working at a professional eventing yard as a groom. I’ll be 18/19 for the 2012 olympics, and by then will have my BHS stages 1,2, &3 and probably my NVQ level 3 (im doing level 2 at the moment), and would love to get some work as a groom…i’ve googled this but i haven’t found anything? Anyone know of websites or anywhere i can find out more information about equestrian jobs for 2012?

All the people competing in the 2012 games will already have their own grooms that work for them. Not many people at that level will take on a freelance when security will be so tight, it isnt like just getting a pass for HOYS which are handed out to the owners to distribute amongst themselves. There will be alot of security checks because of the terror threat.
Best thing you can do would be to either put an ad in Horse and Hound advertising yourself as a freelance looking for high level comp grooming experience working towards 2012. This will give people a chance to try you out before they put you on their ‘team’ at the games.
It will be a great experience to ad to your CV and give you the pick of top names that are short for grooms early season.
Also try Yard and Groom website which has thousands of grooms jobs across the country, there may be a big yard local to you where you could go for work experience for a couple of weeks so they get to know you as a working pupil. The pay is poor but you will learn loads.
All the big County shows are now kicking off and there are regularly big names in Showjumping there. Print your self a flyer out and had it to the grooms at ringside as they wait for their riders. If you are prepared to travel the country you will be offered hundreds of positions, if you are limited by college, ensure you state this and that you are only available between term times.
