Breaking a 2yr 1/2 draft horse that without warning broncs?
i have had this 2yr mare under saddle for 40 days. she goes well in hand and lunges wonderfully. i have ridden her in round pin, trails, and arena always lunging her well before mounting. she goes over polls and walked over 1ft jumps. Walks, extended walks, trots, extended trots and canters on cue. she stands when tied, loads easily, enjoys the wash rack, picks-up feet well…beautiful.
then out of the blue she will bronc! days will go by with no mishaps then she goes loco! its not the tack nor the feed…does any one know why she can show such a dark-side with out warning? i have broken about 3 dozen horses and this is the first with this behavior.
Have you checked her for her wolf teeth? I wonder if they have been removed? Also, maybe you should try a less-harsher bit? Sometimes that is a problem. Otherwise, check out Pat Parelli’s website. He is a wiz at horses. Love his clinics! Good luck.
