Oval Mouth vs. Dr Bristol?

I am currently riding my horse in a oval mouth dee, when i test rode her at the seller’s house she had her in a Dr. Bristol dee. My trainer said that the oval mouth is a WAY easier bit than the dr bristol, i cant understand why… i can see how my oval mouth is a bit more gentle because the round shape but they are very close to being the same bit so how could dr. bristol be so much tougher ???

Dr Bristol’s center joint is angled, making it dig/cut into the horse’s toungue. It is very harsh and I do not recommend it at all. An oval mouth is smooth and prevents pinching and digging.
